ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into a two-vehicle injury collision that took place on the westbound lanes of US-35, near mile post 25, in Ross County. According to reports received by the Chillicothe Post, the incident occurred at approximately 8:54 P.M.
Involved in the collision were a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2001 Ford E-150, both traveling westbound on US-35. The preliminary investigation suggests that the 2020 Freightliner Cascadia executed an improper lane change, leading to a collision with the Ford E-150. The impact of the collision caused the Freightliner to veer off the left side of the roadway, subsequently colliding with a guardrail and overturning.
Ali Mohomed, 28, hailing from West Haven, Connecticut and the operator of the Freightliner Cascadia, sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was flown to Grant Medical Center via MedFlight for medical attention. Fortunately, his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Meanwhile, Javokhir Kushmonov, 24, a passenger in the Freightliner and resident of Greenfield, Wisconsin, was treated on-site for minor injuries.
On the Ford E-150 side, the operator, 24-year-old James Campellone from Goodview, Virginia, and his passenger, 21-year-old Christopher Lafon from Montdale, Virginia, emerged from the incident without any reported injuries.
In response to the collision, the affected stretch of roadway remained closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation process. The Ohio State Highway Patrol received invaluable assistance from the Liberty Township Fire Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, MedFlight, and the Ohio Department of Transportation at the scene of the accident.
As of now, the circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation, and authorities continue to delve into the incident to determine all contributing factors.
