ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A regular afternoon commute turned chaotic for the students on Zane Trace School Bus number 14 on Wednesday when two students allegedly created a disturbance, leading to a delay in getting others home.
The incident unfolded on Marietta Road near Metzger Village, where the two boys reportedly threatened the bus driver, prompting a halt of the bus, according to dispatch records. The Sheriff’s office was swiftly on the scene, removing the unruly students from the bus.
The actions of the two students resulted in a delay as authorities took control of the situation, ensuring the safety of the other students and the bus driver before the journey could continue. Parents awaiting the arrival of Bus 14 were expected to have a consequent delay for their children arriving on the route, as a result.
The names of the involved students were not released due to their minor status. It is unclear at this time what provoked the incident or what disciplinary actions will be taken by the school district.
The disruption is a rare occurrence on Zane Trace School District transportation, which has a generally well-regarded safety record.
Officials from the Zane Trace School District were unavailable for comment as of press time.
Sheriff’s office representatives emphasized the importance of respecting school bus rules and the authority of bus drivers to ensure the safety and punctuality of students’ transportation.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
