ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A daring heist unfolded in Ross County, when a new deputy nabbed thieves stealing a tractor.
It happened when Deputy Brandon Stanley raced against time to chase down tractor thieves in a heart-pounding pursuit that gripped Ross County. Stanley was hired by the Sheriff’s office less than two months ago and is a recent graduate of the Pickaway-Ross Career Tech and Ohio University-Chillicothe’s police academy.
Dispatched to the scene, Deputy Stanley learned the criminals had brazenly fled towards Spargusville in a red truck, hauling a stolen tractor. The chase reached its climax on Potts Hill Road, where a red Ford F-150 with the pilfered tractor was cornered. Lights blazing, Deputy Stanley executed a felony traffic stop, forcing the culprits, identified as Thomas Stanton I and David Redman, to face the music.
The plot thickened as Redman, cuffed and under scrutiny, revealed an active burglary warrant from Pike County and was found in possession of a used hypodermic needle. The truck held more secrets, including a concealed gun under the driver’s seat, promptly seized along with four magazines.
In a dramatic turn of events, the tractor’s owner arrived to claim his stolen possession, providing a riveting firsthand account of the crime. Letches Towing swooped in, recovering the tractor and hauling the F-150 and trailer to the impound lot, revealing a trove of power tools, gloves, and flashlights during inventory.
The not-so-dynamic duo, Thomas and David, were arrested and escorted to the Ross County Jail, leaving behind a trail of intrigue.
