CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A dramatic high-speed chase that began in Jackson County ended in a crash near Chillicothe this afternoon. The driver, a female, is now in custody.
Earlier chase: The incident began with a stolen gray Nissan Sentra, bearing Ohio license plate JYE1563, fleeing from authorities in Jackson County. The chase continued south on Route 35, reaching dangerous speeds exceeding 90 mph. For safety reasons, the Ohio Highway Patrol terminated the pursuit.
Renewed pursuit and apprehension: Following a brief pause, Ross County deputies located the stolen vehicle and re-initiated the chase around 1:35 pm. The chase continued north on Route 23 before the driver made a U-turn and headed south again, reportedly driving into oncoming traffic.
End of chase and medical attention: The pursuit reached its conclusion after the vehicle struck spike strips deployed by law enforcement and a controlled pit maneuver attempt. The driver experienced seizures upon exiting the vehicle, and medics have been dispatched to the scene.
Road closure and investigation: Eastbound Route 35 from North Bridge Street to the 23/35 split remains closed as authorities investigate the incident.
