WAVERLY, Ohio – A winter storm created treacherous road conditions across Pike County on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, leading to two motor vehicle crashes within a short timeframe, according to the Waverly Fire Department.
First Crash: Two Extricated, One Seriously Injured on US 23
The first crash occurred at 6:47 PM on US 23 near Prairie Road, involving multiple vehicles and injuries with entrapment.
Emergency crews worked to extricate two individuals trapped inside a vehicle. One of the victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The crash shut down northbound US 23 for nearly 90 minutes, while southbound lanes were closed intermittently to allow emergency vehicles access to the scene.
Second Crash: Car Strikes Light Pole on SR 335
Shortly after clearing the first crash scene, the Waverly Fire Department was dispatched at 8:14 PM to State Route 335 and Wendy Lane for a single-vehicle crash. The driver lost control on icy roads and slid off the roadway, striking a light pole. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this crash, and crews cleared the area without major delays.
