CHICAGO, Illinois — ADM Animal Nutrition, a division of ADM, has issued a voluntary recall for specific pelleted cattle feed products due to elevated levels of copper or deficient levels of zinc, which could pose health risks to livestock.
Reason for the Recall
According to ADM, certain batches of their pelleted cattle feed may contain higher-than-intended levels of copper or lower-than-represented amounts of zinc, which could be harmful to cattle if consumed over time.
- Excess copper levels may cause chronic copper toxicity in cattle, leading to symptoms such as loss of appetite, abdominal pain, lethargy, diarrhea, and dehydration.
- Zinc deficiency can impact livestock by reducing feed intake, feed efficiency, and growth.
No Illnesses Reported Yet
As of now, no cases of illness or adverse effects linked to the recalled feed have been reported. ADM identified the issue during routine production checks and initiated the recall immediately after confirming the nutrient inconsistencies.
