CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unusual call on Christmas Eve after several attendees at a company holiday party began feeling “off” during a cookie exchange held inside one of the community buildings at the Chillicothe fairgrounds.
According to the incident report filed on December 24, the party took place on December 22 and included a traditional cookie swap — but at some point during the festivities, a few guests reported symptoms that raised concern. The suspicion? That someone may have brought cookies containing THC.

Deputies spoke with the event organizer, who confirmed the party was held at the multi-purpose building and that several employees had reported feeling strange. However, no one was able to identify which cookies may have been responsible, and no suspect was named.
The case was documented as non-criminal, and no charges were filed. But the report was logged as a precaution — and it’s a reminder that even the sweetest holiday traditions can take an unexpected turn.
