ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to five calls for service on Tuesday, April 28, according to the agency’s public calls for service log. The following is a summary of those incidents.
Horses loose on roadway — Millfield
Deputies responded to the Millfield area shortly before 10 a.m. after callers reported three horses walking along McDougal Road near Carl Road. Deputies patrolled the area but did not locate the animals. A second call was received shortly after reporting the same horses on Keirns Road. Upon arrival, deputies found that the complainant had already contacted the owners, who arrived on scene and returned the horses home.
Children Services assist — Glouster
Deputies responded to Greens Run Road in Glouster at approximately 4 p.m. to assist Athens County Children Services with a case follow-up. Deputies returned to patrol upon completion.
Residential vandalism under investigation — Millfield
Deputies responded to Brown Road in Millfield at 6:30 p.m. for a report of residential vandalism. Deputies obtained a statement from the complainant and filed a report. The case remains open and under investigation.
Disturbance call unfounded — The Plains
Deputies responded to the area of Shady Lane in The Plains at approximately 8:44 p.m. after a caller reported hearing a female yelling. Deputies patrolled the area but were unable to locate anyone in need of assistance.
Barking dog complaint — The Plains
Deputies responded to Beech Road in The Plains just after 9 p.m. for a complaint about a barking dog. Deputies made contact with the owner, who brought the dog inside for the night.
