WILMINGTON, Ohio — A stretch of unsettled weather is set to move through the region beginning late this afternoon, bringing scattered thunderstorms, periods of steady rain, and a noticeable drop in temperatures by mid‑week.
Forecasters say a chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop after 5 p.m., with skies staying mostly cloudy and highs reaching the mid‑70s. While only 30% of the area is expected to see rain during the day, any storm that forms could produce brief downpours.
Conditions change quickly after sunset.
A widespread shield of rain and embedded thunderstorms is expected to move in tonight, with forecasters assigning a 100% chance of precipitation. Lows will fall to around 49 degrees as winds ease to about 6 mph. Between a quarter and half an inch of rain is possible overnight, with locally higher totals in heavier cells.
The wet pattern continues into Wednesday. Showers are likely from the morning through early afternoon, especially between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Highs will struggle to reach 60 degrees as cooler north winds settle in.
By Wednesday night, lingering moisture may still spark a few light showers before 2 a.m., but most of the region will trend drier. Lows will dip into the low 40s under mostly cloudy skies.
No severe weather is expected, but the repeated rounds of rain could lead to pockets of ponding on roads and reduced visibility at times.
