CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Brian Stewart holds a strong lead in the Republican primary for Ohio’s 12th House District, with The Guardian calling the race based on consistent margins across all three counties and updated districtwide totals released Tuesday night.
Stewart leads challenger Patty Hamilton in Franklin, Madison, and Pickaway counties, with both Madison and Pickaway fully reported and Franklin more than halfway in. The pattern of returns across the district shows Stewart maintaining a steady advantage as remaining precincts continue to report.
In Madison County, where all 24 precincts have reported, Stewart leads 2,421 to 1,560, or 60.81%. In Pickaway County, also fully reported, he leads 3,371 to 2,752, or 55.05%. In Franklin County, with 506 of 889 precincts reporting, Stewart holds 73.33%, with 209 votes to Hamilton’s 76.
Updated districtwide totals provided Tuesday night show Stewart with 6,001 votes (57.76%), compared with Hamilton’s 4,388 votes (42.24%), reinforcing his lead across the three‑county district.
On the Democratic side, Liam N. Strausbaugh ran unopposed and received 3,396 votes, securing the Democratic nomination for the November general election.
Stewart, the incumbent, is seeking another term representing the 12th District, which includes portions of Franklin, Madison, and Pickaway counties.
All results remain unofficial until county boards complete their canvass and certify the vote.
