ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Huntington Local School District responded to a threat from a middle school student in a social media group message, according to a post the district shared on Facebook Friday.

The district said it was notified of the threat by both parents and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.

In response, school officials searched lockers, and law enforcement has been on campus conducting interviews.

The district said students and staff are safe.

“Our students and staff are safe, and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of our school community,” the district wrote.

No further details have been released at this time.
