BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an injury to an infant that occurred at a residence on Shawnee Street in Bainbridge on June 10, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Deputies were dispatched to the area at approximately 2:33 p.m. for a report of an infant with an injury. According to the report, Bainbridge EMS was already on scene when deputies arrived. The infant was transported by ambulance to Adena Regional Medical Center before later being flown by medical helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, the report states.

According to the report, a deputy was advised prior to arrival that there may have been a domestic situation involving the household before the infant was injured. The report’s initial narrative states deputies responded to “a baby with a head injury” and that the case was forwarded to Children’s Services.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau says the criminal investigation remains ongoing.

No charges have been filed at this time. The sheriff’s office is withholding the names of those involved pending further developments in the investigation.
