GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — A tragic head-on collision claimed the life of one driver and injured another on Thursday afternoon near Gallipolis, Ohio.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred around 2:30 PM on State Route 7. Bruce McCloud, 50, was driving southbound when his vehicle crossed the center lane and collided head-on with a northbound truck driven by Matthew Traywick, 42. Mr. McCloud was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr. Traywick sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Several agencies assisted at the scene, including the Ohio Department of Transportation, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner’s Office, EMS, local police and fire departments, and towing companies.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safe driving practices on our roadways.
