PIKETON, Ohio — U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown is set to make multiple stops in southern Ohio today, starting with a visit to Piketon, where he will speak at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new middle school in the Scioto Valley Local School District, according to his communications team.
The new middle school is being funded by Congress, which allocated resources last year following the 2019 closure of Zahn’s Corner Middle School due to concerns over radioactive contamination.
After the event in Piketon, Senator Brown will travel to Chillicothe, where he will join Mayor Luke Feeney to kick off a canvassing campaign.
Senator Brown’s visit comes as he faces strong opposition from conservatives, who are rallying behind Bernie Moreno. Moreno recently visited Chillicothe, where he was met by a group of heated protestors.
