PIKETON, Ohio — A two-vehicle crash on State Route 32 at U.S. 23 in Pike County claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman and left others injured Sunday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 1:10 p.m. when Paul W. Taylor, 79, of Canal Winchester, driving a 2018 Kia Cadenza southbound on U.S. 23, failed to yield from a stop sign while exiting onto State Route 32. His vehicle was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven westbound by Justin T. Gill, 34, of Beaver.
Wilma J. Taylor, 78, a passenger in the Kia, was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where she later died from her injuries. Paul Taylor was also airlifted to Grant Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
Gill was treated at the scene, while a juvenile passenger in his vehicle was transported to Adena Pike Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Seal Township Volunteer Fire Department, Portsmouth Ambulance, and Piketon Police Department, is continuing to investigate the crash.
