PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A Pike County property owner has received a third notice of violation from the Ohio EPA after inspectors found scrap tires still piled across a 16-acre property on Dry Bone Road — with no sign that anything has been done to clean them up.
The violation, issued May 13, follows a follow-up inspection at 3496 Dry Bone Road on April 8 in which EPA representatives found multiple piles and stacks of largely off-the-road tires dumped in various areas across the property. Inspectors noted that no noticeable action had been taken to remove the tires since a previous inspection was conducted on February 9.

It is the third time the EPA has cited the property for the same violation — open dumping of scrap tires, which is prohibited under Ohio law.
The EPA is giving the property owner 14 days to provide documentation of steps taken to address the violations or submit a compliance plan. The agency requires the tires to be removed by a registered scrap tire transporter and disposed of at a licensed facility.
