ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A fatal two-vehicle crash that took place on US Route 50 in Ross County is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The collision occurred Friday, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and minor injuries to another.
According to Sergeant Bobby Brown of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident took place just before 10 p.m. Brown said Robert O. Pegan, 65, Hillsboro, was westbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle when the crash occurred. Simultaneously, Jeffrey D. Creed, 59, Chillicothe, was making an eastbound turn from Rapid Forge Road onto US Route 50 in his Chevrolet Avalanche when the vehicles struck head-on.
Pegan succumbed to his injuries sustained from the crash. Creed suffered minor injuries but was treated at the scene and released.
The Ross County Coroner’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Bainbridge Fire Department and EMS were present at the crash scene, assisting the Highway Patrol. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours due to the incident.
The investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash is ongoing.
