CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-skip crash that left a pedestrian injured Monday morning in Ross County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The incident occurred at 6:48 a.m. at the intersection of Marietta Road and Hopetown Road, according to the patrol’s Chillicothe Post. The victim had stopped his vehicle at a stop sign to attend to a child inside when he exited to address a task at the rear of the vehicle. As he stood near the left rear, a passing vehicle struck him on the left side and fled the scene, troopers said.

Emergency crews from Springfield Township and Green Township responded, providing on-scene evaluation. The victim was initially taken to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe before being transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for further treatment. His condition was not immediately available.

The suspect’s vehicle was last seen heading north on Marietta Road, authorities said. No description of the vehicle or driver was released.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Chillicothe Post. The investigation remains ongoing.
